1.562 boats entered for the Barcolana number 45. Route reduced the second mark because of very little wind. The regatta, won for the fourth time in a row by ESIMIT EUROPE 2, was disturbed by a blitz of Greenpeace activists, who made one pass with inflatables showing banners against Gazprom (sponsors Esimit Europe 2) in support of the campaign to a halt to drilling in the Arctic. A boat mounting rubber winner of Barcolana boarded the Greenpeace boat and a knife tore one of two vessels of the environmental.
